Dedicated to the memory of Candy Knight

Candy was born to Jim and Annie and brought up as one of 5 children in Cornwall.

Always the life and soul of the party, the one that would always have a solution to everyone's problems, always wanting to help when and wherever she could.

On April 21st, 2017 Mum was diagnosed with MND. It was a harsh reality as we had no idea as MND was a disease that other people had, not mum.

The very following day we had to call an ambulance as mum was choking and unable to breathe, she was admitted to the hospital that evening.

The next few weeks were like a rollercoaster of tests, fears, tears and tender moments. At no time during mums last few weeks did she complain. Her courage and strength are testaments to the incredibly strong lady she was.

Mums, last 3 weeks were spent at the Helston Community Hospital, the care she received from the nursing staff was tender and gentle and always caring. They supported mum and our family emotionally and we will be forever grateful for the endless cups of tea, a squeeze on my shoulder when it was almost too much to bear, they were amazing.

During the darkest times, as well as family and friends, I had the unwavering support from the Cornwall branch of MND, as well as the MND specialist nurse. They offered opportunities of talking with people who knew and understood the challenges that mum would have to face, they offered practical, emotional and financial support for the equipment to give mum the quality of care she needed and deserved.

I wanted to create this tribute in memory of my mum to help other this cruel harsh disease. Any donations you can offer will be used to help brighten the lives of other suffers.

Thank you x
